We have brown clouds; Colorado gets a chocolate snowfall.

A recent snowstorm over parts of Colorado featured "white stuff" that was dark as chocolate, according to an Associated Press story that appeared over the weekend in USA Today (up on The Drudge Report). The story was datelined Frisco, Colo., on Interstate 70 west of Denver.

The storm, which happened back on Feb. 16, apparently mixed snow with dust from a windstorm in northern Arizona, the AP reported.

"It's pretty much statewide," according to Ethan Greene, director of the Colorado Avalanche Information Center. "We've had reports from the San Juans, Winter Park ... all over," the AP reported.

Greene said exceptionally dry conditions in northern Arizona helped kick up the dust, said the AP.
