Las Cruces girl dies at home

A two-month old Las Cruces girl died Sunday, carried to the emergency room by her mother because the family didn't have a phone to call for help, the Las Cruces Sun-News reports.

Monday morning, a Doña Ana County Sheriff's Office investigator was en-route to the Office of the Medical Investigator in Albuquerque, just hours after the infant was declared dead at Memorial Medical Center, said DASO Investigator Bo Nevarez.

An official cause of death won't be declared until the OMI investigation is complete, he said. But initial reports indicate the death was a tragic accident.
