El Paso woman gets 4 years for assaulting N.M. boy.
Donna McKnight, 52, a former teacher at Vista Hills Elementary School in the Ysleta Independent School District in east El Paso, was sentenced Monday in Las Cruces for sexually assaulting a 14-year-old boy last August in Dona Ana County, the Las Cruces Sun-News reported today on its Web site. State District Judge Stephen Bridgforth imposed a six-year sentence, then suspended two years and ordered McKnight to spend the two years on probation and to register as a sex offender on her release from prison, the Sun-News reported. McKnight in January pleaded guilty to third-degree criminal sexual penetration of a minor, fourth-degree criminal sexual contact, and conspiracy to contribute to the delinquency of a minor, the paper reported. She was accused of assaulting the boy last Aug. 7 while he was doing work at her mother-in-law's house in Chaparral, and according to court records promised the boy "some extra money" as she undressed and had him touch her private parts, the Sun-News reported. McKnight's husband, Ronald McKnight, pleaded guilty in January to charges of bribery of a witness, contributing to the delinquency of a minor and conspiracy to contribute to the delinquency of a minor, charges that carry a six-year maximum sentence. Sentencing for the 49-year-old husband is pending. He was accused of offering to pay for two years of college and buy new four-wheelers for the Chaparral teen if he and his mother would drop the complaint against McKnight's wife, the Las Cruces Sun-News reported in January.
