A couple believed to be from Santa Fe were killed early Tuesday when a suspected drunken driver ran a red light in the North Valley and slammed into their pickup, investigators said.

Police had not been able to make positive identifications on the victims as of Tuesday afternoon because neither had driver's licenses with them. The pickup was registered to a 44-year-old man who lives in Santa Fe.

Moments after the crash at Fourth and Menaul, police took into custody Micah Henry, 23, of southeast Albuquerque, and charged him with two counts of homicide by vehicle. Henry was being held Tuesday afternoon in the Metropolitan Detention Center.

Police said Henry was driving up and down Menaul at a high rate of speed at about 1:40 a.m. when he ran the red light. Police said his blood alcohol content was twice the legal limit to operate a motor vehicle in New Mexico.
