Investigators say the crash was caused by a motorist who was impaired due to a medical condition.
They say the woman was traveling south on I-25 when she crossed the median and merged into the northbound lanes before crashing head-on with a pickup truck.
Three people were injured and taken to a hospital.
Traffic has since cleared up.


Traffic remains backed up for several miles after a head-on crash along the northbound lanes of Interstate 25 at mile marker 183, just south of the Valencia County line in Socorro County.
Several people were injured in the crash, including one who was taken to University of New Mexico Hospital by helicopter. One motorist had to be extricated from a pickup truck.
The crash occurred around 3 p.m.
