ABQ could be getting some snow after 11 this morning through Thursday.

The cooldown that was supposed to arrive in the Albuquerque area today will make a delayed appearance -- our forecast high today is 54, still well below the average high of 60 for this date. But tomorrow we'll be dipping down to a high of 43, with a 10 percent chance of snow after 11 a.m. today, 20 percent overnight and 20 percent again on Thursday.

After that, expect temperatures to rise back into the 50s on Thursday, high 50s on Saturday and pushing 60 on Sunday, according to the National Weather Service.

The previously advertised warmup for this weekend will be slower than expected, according to this morning's area forecast discussion.

Meanwhile, this latest last-gasp-of-winter storm is proving more powerful than expected, but should bypass the Albuquerque metro area for the most part.

There's a winter storm warning in effect for the north-central counties from noon today to noon Thursday and a winter storm watch up for eastern and northeastern New Mexico from this afternoon to Thursday afternoon, according to the weather service.
