Two teens accused of stealing copper sheets from trailer; third suspect missing.

The owner and driver of a tractor-trailer hauling copper for an Arizona company was catching a nap in the cab of his truck early Thursday while parked in Vado when he felt the trailer moving, the Las Cruces Sun-News reported.

When he woke up he saw three individuals taking sheets of copper from the trailer, the paper said.

Dona Ana County sheriff's deputies responded to a report of a theft in progress, and arrested 18-year-old Bryan Martinez at the scene, while Raul Maldonado, 16, was arrested later in the day, the Sun-News reported.

Both teens are facing charges of burglary of a vehicle, larceny over $500 and conspiracy, the paper said.

A third suspect is being sought, deputies told the Sun-News.

The owner/operator of the truck, whose name wasn't released, told police that several drivers he knows have reported similar incidents, the paper said.
