No more prep basketball championships on TV, but tourney games will be online.
For the first time in more than 20 years, you won't be able to catch New Mexico prep basketball's championship games on live television. But thanks to a partnership between the New Mexico Activities Association and Team Power Stream Networks (TPSN), you can catch the tournament games live-streamed on NMAA.tv, the Albuquerque Journal reported. Jim Williams, president of TPSN, told the Journal that KASA Fox 2 did broadcasts of the state championship games for 20-plus years, but producing a television broadcast for those games proved too expensive. The Clovis television station KFCL is partnering with NMAA.tv to provide live-streaming of every state basketball tournament game from The Pit in Albuquerque, the Clovis News Journal reported. All the games through the Class 5A boys' championship game on Saturday will be available to viewers with a broadband Internet connection through Windows Media Player, and archived content is played through flash video (both programs are available online as free downloads), the News Journal reported. NMAA.tv was founded three years ago by TPSN and first streamed state championship games last year, according to the News Journal. Here's the Journal's set-up story for the tournament, and you can find the latest scores here for the boys and here for the girls.
