As part of its National Coffee Break promotion, Starbucks will be giving away a free tall (12-ounce) cup of coffee between 10 a.m. and noon at its 7,500 stores nationwide -- including the 20 or so in Albuquerque, a worker at the Starbucks at Golf Course Road and Paseo del Norte NW confirmed this morning.

Baristas from coast-to-coast expect to pour about half a million free cups this morning, according to a story on KOAT-TV's Web site, TheNewMexicoChannel.com. And if you don't know where to find a local Starbucks already, here's a photo guide to the Albuquerque-area stores.

And for those who can't make it to a Starbucks, Starbucks workers will hit the streets looking for you, using mobile "Venti Vans" and insulated backpacks, according to the AP story on KOAT's Web site.

The coffee giveaway comes a week after McDonald's restaurants introduced their new high-end, higher-octane coffee, according to news reports.
