Investigators want to know if there's a link with recent fire in Espanola.
Investigators are looking into the possibility that the state Probation and Parole office in Los Lunas was firebombed Wednesday morning, KOB-TV reported. The reception area of the office was heavily damaged and officials aren't ruling out the possibility that a Molotov cocktail was used to start the fire, the station reported. Police also are investigating whether a similar incident at a probation and parole office in Espanola recently is linked to the Los Lunas fire, according to Eyewitness News 4. "I know for sure that the one in Espanola last weekend was set on fire and today this one here in Los Lunas was set on fire. So I don't know if it's a coincidence or connection. I don't know," Los Lunas police Capt. Charles Nuanes told KOB-TV. Police checked out a license number of a car seen in the area of the office but when they checked out the address, the house was vacant, KOB-TV said. State Corrections Department spokeswoman Tia Bland told KOAT-TV that the office can't be used in its current condition, so a temporary office has been set up to accommodate some 500 people on probation or parole.
