Farmington man who was free on bond now accused of armed robbery.

Kyle Martinez, 22, of Farmington, accused of breaking into a San Juan County house last Thanksgiving and fondling a 10-year-old girl, was free on bond when he and another man were arrested on armed robbery charges, the Farmington Daily Times reported.

Martinez and 20-year-old Myron Wood of Newcomb were arrested Sunday for allegedly robbing a Mustang Convenience Store on U.S. 550 at knifepoint, the Daily Times said.

According to the San Juan County Sheriff's Office, Martinez approached the store clerk and offered $25 for $30 worth of gas and when the clerk refused, Martinez allegedly attacked the clerk with a knife, the paper reported.

While Martinez grappled with the clerk, Wood allegedly stole two boxes of beer, sheriff's officials said.

The men were picked up several hours later by Farmington police driving a vehicle that had been reported stolen in Newcomb, the Daily Times said.

Both men are charged with second-degree armed robbery, third-degree assault, conspiracy, tampering with evidence and misdemeanor damage to property, and Wood also was charged with DWI, the paper reported.

Martinez, who is being held without bond at the San Juan County Detention Center, bonded out of jail last December after being charged with criminal sexual contact of a minor, two counts of false imprisonment, burglary and misdemeanor battery, the Daily Times said.

Those charges stemmed from an incident last Thanksgiving Day when Martinez allegedly walked into an unlocked house and told the two young girls who were there that he was looking for someone named Shannon who owed him money.

When the girls told him there was no Shannon there, Martinez allegedly took one of the girls into a bedroom where he fondled her, according to the Daily Times.

The girls told deputies that Martinez kept them from leaving the house until he lost his balance and fell into an entertainment system, giving the girls the opportunity to escape, the paper said.
