Breaking: Crash Backs Up Traffic to Tijeras |

Crash west of Carnuel on westbound I-40 playing havoc with commuters.
10:20am UPDATE: The traffic backup on westbound Interstate 40 cleared up shortly before 9 this morning, KRQE News 13 reported. The crash, described by News 13 as "minor," occurred just east of Tramway in the right lane of westbound I-40.
7:48am UPDATE: Traffic is backed up "like crazy" on Old Route 66 as drivers try to avoid crash cleanup on westbound Interstate 40 west of Carnuel, but KKOB's Helen Wheels says it's possible to avoid the crash if you keep to the left lane on westbound I-40. It's slow going for anyone westbound on the interstate, Wheels warns.
A crash 770 KKOB Radio's traffic reporter Helen Wheels calls "bad" on westbound Interstate 40 west of Carnuel is backing up early-morning traffic all the way to Tijeras. No word yet on how many cars are involved or on injuries, but commuters are being urged to take Old Route 66 to avoid the mess.
