Bus with McKinley Middle School students and car collide at Pan American and Osuna NE.

9:17am UPDATE: KRQE News 13 is reporting there were two separate crashes within a few hundred feet of each other around 8 this morning near Pan American Freeway and Osuna Boulevard NE.

One of the crashes involved a school bus carrying students to McKinley Middle School, injuring the bus driver and the driver of a van that struck the bus as it was trying to turn left but failed to yield to traffic, police told News 13.

An earlier report that a female student was taken to the hospital turned out not to be the case, KRQE reported.

The second crash, just about 200 feet from the bus crash, was a head-on collision in which a pregnant woman hit her head on the windshield, but there was no further word on the woman's condition, News 13 reported.

A McKinley Middle School student and a school bus driver have been taken to a hospital for medical evaluation after a rush-hour collision this morning between the bus and a car at Pan American and Osuna NE, KOB-TV is reporting.

Albuquerque Police Department Deputy Chief Mike Callaway told KOB-TV that both the driver and the girl appeared to be suffering from neck injuries.

About 20 to 25 McKinley students were aboard the bus and were taken to school by a backup bus, Eyewitness News 4 reported.

Police told KOB-TV it appeared that the bus driver failed to yield and struck a car that was knocked into a second car.
