Experts to hold weekly symposium in Aztec where UFO allegedly crashed in 1948.

Sixty years ago this month, the story goes, a UFO crashed in Hart Canyon, north of Aztec, and the event will be marked this weekend by the Aztec UFO Symposium featuring a star-studded panel of UFOlogists, according to the Farmington Daily Times.

Scott Ramsey, a UFO investigator from North Carolina who is married to a former Farmington resident, began the annual symposium 11 years ago along with local librarian Leanne Hathcock and has spent years investigating the incident that allegedly occurred in March 1948, the Daily Times said.

Ramsey and his wife, Suzanne Ninos, will present their latest findings at this weekend's symposium, including interviews with friends and relatives of the late Rev. Autrey Brown, who allegedly saw the spacecraft, charred alien bodies and was sworn to secrecy by military authorities, according to the Daily Times.

Other panelists include world-renowned Ufologist Stanton Friedman; Jesse Marcel Jr., whose father was involved in the famous Roswell Incident; Timothy Good of England, who will speak on military intelligence and UFOs; Ted Phillips, who has investigated trace evidence around alleged UFO landings; James Carrion, director of the International Mutual UFO Network (MUFON); Duane Tudahl, producer of The History Channel's "UFO Files"; and Ken Storch, a law enforcement officer, the Daily Times said.

The symposium opens Friday with a "meet-and-greet" dinner at $15 a person, and will continue Saturday at the Aztec Masonic Lodge, 1020 N. Aztec Blvd.

Entrance to the two-day event is $30 a person, $20 for students and seniors, while police, military, firefighters and EMTs will be admitted free, the Daily Times reported.
