Volunteer, 23, accused of illegally using gasoline cards issued by Dona Ana County.
A 23-year-old volunteer firefighter with the Chamberino Fire Department is in custody at the Dona Ana County Detention Center on a $50,000 cash-only bond, accused of illegally using gasoline cards issued by the county, the Las Cruces Sun-News reported. Dominic Medina faces two counts of fraudulently using illegally obtained cards and one count of larceny, Dona Ana County investigator Richard Chavez told the Sun-News. Chavez said Medina admitted to stealing two gasoline cards from fire trucks at the Chamberino department in December and offered to fill up anyone's tank for $35, the Sun-News said. Investigators said Medina charged more than $8,500 on the county cards and made about $1,200 from the scheme, the paper reported.
