Farmington 20-year-old charged with 33 felonies between Nov. 2007 and Jan. 2008.
David Yniguez, 20, of Farmington pleaded guilty Monday to a number of crimes in connection with an apparent drug-fueled crime spree between November 2007 and January 2008 and was sentenced to 10 years in prison, the Farmington Daily Times reported. Yniguez was originally charged with 33 felonies in connection with the crime spree, but 25 counts were dropped as part of a plea agreement, and Yniguez pleaded guilty Monday to forgery, fraud, breaking and entering, two counts of third-degree burglary and two counts of auto theft, the Daily Times said. Attorneys on both sides agreed the crimes were rooted in a powerful drug addiction, but Yniguez didn't face any drug charges, the paper said. The plea agreement called for capping the sentence at 10 years, and state District Judge John Dean imposed the full amount, the Daily Times said. Yniguez also faces unrelated criminal charges in Colorado, the paper reported.
