Man eludes San Juan County deputies, Farmington police and State Police.

San Juan County sheriff's detective Daniel Clugston was trying to serve a stolen-property warrant on Josh Wood Wednesday afternoon, when Wood -- whose age and hometown weren't immediately available -- tried to run down Clugston in a stolen oil field truck, the Farmington Daily Times reported.

"The suspect was outside of the truck when the detective saw him," sheriff's Sgt. Kory Faulk told the Daily Times. "The guy jumped in the truck, started it and backed over the detective's car."

The detective's car was badly damaged, but no one was injured in the incident, the Daily Times said.

"There were some jewelry boxes and stuff that fell out at the scene where he ran over the detective's car, that may have been stolen," Faulk told the paper.

Wood took off, and sheriff's deputies, Farmington police and State Police officers pursued him until he ditched the truck in a ravine and took off on foot, the Daily Times said.

Police set up a perimeter and searched with a sheriff's helicopter and K9 units for more than an hour, but Wood -- who is likely to face new charges of aggravated battery on a peace officer and illegal taking of a motor vehicle -- got away, the paper reported.
