Price of regular unleaded at the pump up nearly 6 cents in a week.

6:45am UPDATE: The price of regular unleaded gasoline at some Albuquerque-area stations have jumped more than 10 cents overnight, KOB-TV is reporting.

Some stations that were selling gas at $3.16 a gallon last night are charging $3.28 a gallon this morning, KOB-TV reported.

A Silver City viewer told Eyewitness News 4 that prices had hit $3.45 a gallon in that southwestern New Mexico city.

Regular unleaded gasoline in Albuquerque inched up from $3.215 a gallon on Thursday to $3.232 today, up from $3.179 a gallon last week at this time and way up from $2.650 a gallon a year ago, according to AlbuquerqueGasPrices.com.

The national average price rose 0.2 cent overnight to set yet another record of $3.289 on Thursday, according to AAA and the Oil Price Information Service, The Associated Press reported.

A surge in gas futures on Wednesday, along with a big gain in oil prices, was expected to send prices at the pump even higher in the near future, since retail prices follow the futures market (though with some time lag), the AP reported.

The cheapest gas reported locally is at Sam's Club, 10600 Coors Bypass and Cottonwood Drive NW, at $3.03 a gallon, according to AlbuquerqueGasPrices.com.

Big spenders can pay $3.31 a gallon of regular unleaded at the Phillips 66 stations at San Bernardino and Tramway NE and at 1517 Gibson and University SE, the Web site reports.
