Four illegal immigrants from Mexico caught along with two fugitives from Guatemala.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents took six illegal immigrants into custody at two Santa Fe locations last week, including two fugitives from Guatemala, ICE spokeswoman Leticia Zamarripa told The New Mexican.

"Four (of the detainees) were illegal aliens who our officers encountered while looking for fugitives," Zamarripa told the paper.

The names of those who were detained were not released, but the four nonfugitive detainees were from Mexico, The New Mexican reported.

All were between the ages of 20 and 40, Zamarripa said.

Two of the Mexican immigrants were arrested outside the Salvadoran restaurant Red Enchilada, while the others were found elsewhere in Santa Fe, the paper reported.

Raul Lopez, owner of the Red Enchilada, told The New Mexican that the detainees didn't work for the restaurant but he had seen them in the past as customers cashing checks, which is also part of his business.

Lopez told the paper that the ICE agents treated him respectfully and showed him photos of the people they were looking for, adding, "everyone was surprised when they showed up."
