Person of interest in bar parking lot fatality is an APD traffic supervisor.

Police are looking into whether the driver of a vehicle that ran over a woman Sunday evening at an East Side bar was an Albuquerque police officer, Chief Ray Schultz said today at a news conference.

A person of interest in the case is Sgt. Andrew Gallegos, a supervisor in the department's traffic unit and normally investigates such incidents. Gallegos has been placed on administrative leave, APD said.

Forty-seven-year-old Vera Haskell was killed in the incident.

Police say they believe Gallegos may have been the driver leaving Sidewinders on Central Avenue who ran over Haskell as he was backing out of a parking space.

A surveillance video captured the incident.

So far police say they do not know if any charges are going to be be pursued against Gallegos.
