Las Cruces police say father had sex with teenage while mother stood by.

Las Cruces police on Monday arrested the parents of a teenage girl after it was alleged the father was having an inappropriate sexual relationship with her, the Las Cruces Sun-News reported.

The parents, who aren't being named to protect the identity of the alleged victim, are facing a variety of charges in connection with incidents authorities say date back to June 2000, the Sun-News said.

The 39-year-old father is facing charges of first-degree criminal sexual penetration of a child under 13 and fourth-degree criminal sexual contact of a minor, and is being held at the Dona Ana County Detention Center on a $75,000 cash-only bond, the paper reported.

The 41-year-old mother faces charges of third-degree intentional child abuse and a misdemeanor count of failure to report child abuse or neglect, the Sun-News said. Her bond was set at $11,000.

The father also faces charges of battery on a police officer and resisting or obstructing an officer after he allegedly physically attacked an officer during questioning at the Las Cruces Police Department, the paper reported.
