Officials say seven of 10 American Airlines flights at ABQ are scrubbed.

9:45am UPDATE: Frontier Airlines flights were on schedule today at the Albuquerque International Sunport despite the Denver-based carrier's announcement today that it was filing for bankruptcy, KOAT-TV reported.

Frontier operates a dozen flights daily between Albuquerque and Denver, Action 7 News reported.

American Airlines' massive inspection-related mess continues to affect the Albuquerque International Sunport today, with seven of 10 scheduled flights canceled, Sunport spokesman Daniel Jiron told ABQjournal.com.

Most of today's cancellations are departures to Dallas-Fort Worth, Jiron told us.

Only American's 9:11 a.m. flight to Chicago, the 2:35 p.m. to Austin and a 2:35 p.m. flight to Dallas were scheduled to take off today, according to KOAT-TV

"We're doing a little bit better with arrivals," said Jiron, who said that after today's disruptions, "We're hoping to have things back to normal."

A check of the real-time flight information on the Sunport's Web site shows the following American Airlines flights have been canceled: 2284 at 6 a.m. to Dallas-Fort Worth; 2030 at 7:05 a.m. to DFW; 1648 at 9:35 a.m. to DFW; and 1008 at 10:45 a.m. to DFW.

Canceled arrivals include 1139 at 11:15 a.m. from DFW and 389 at 5:50 p.m. from Dallas, according to the Web site.

That leaves one of the canceled flights unaccounted for, so be sure to check on your flight's status at the American Airlines' Web site

American, a unit of Fort Worth, Texas-based AMR Corp., canceled 570 flights nationwide today, bringing to more than 3,000 the number the airline has scrapped this week due to safety inspections of its MD-80 jet aircraft, according to the latest from The Associated Press.

The carrier said it expected disruptions to continue through Saturday as it works to comply with a federal safety order concerning the inspection of wiring bundles on its MD-80s, the AP reported.

8:30am 4/10/08 -- More American Flights Canceled Today: Entire schedule scrubbed at Sunport again, except for one delayed flight to Dallas.

American Airlines is expected to cancel another 900 or so flights nationwide as it continues its reinspection of wiring bundles in its MD-80 jets, and for the third day in a row American flights in and out of the Albuquerque International Sunport are being scrubbed, Sunport spokesman Daniel Jiron told ABQjournal.com.

Jiron told us American's entire schedule at the Sunport has been canceled, except for the 7:30 a.m. flight to Dallas-Fort Worth, which has been delayed until 9:45.

Once again, Jiron urges fliers to check with the airline for the latest flight information.

While there have been some reports of American's cancellations going into Friday and even into the weekend, Jiron told us that beyond today's cancellations "we haven't been told anything yet."

Here's the latest from The Associated Press

12:50pm 4/9/08 -- American Scrubs All Today's Flights at Sunport: Massive nationwide inspections could affect Thursday morning flights as well.

All nine of American Airlines' flights in and out of the Albuquerque International Sunport -- seven involving Dallas-Fort Worth and two for Chicago -- have been canceled today as part of American's nationwide effort to complete inspections of its MD-80 aircraft, Sunport spokesman Daniel Jiron told ABQjournal.com.

More than 1,000 flights were grounded today, following the cancellation of about 460 MD-80 flights on Tuesday, as American did a second round of inspections of wiring packages for the auxiliary hydraulic systems, according to The Associated Press.

The airline still isn't sure how many more flights may be disrupted, and the Sunport's Jiron told us that American's early-morning flights on Thursday will "definitely be affected."

Jiron urged passengers to check with the American Airlines Web site to check on the latest news concerning flight cancellations.

The following statement was posted on American's Web site:

Aircraft Inspections Affect Some AA Travel

We sincerely regret the inconvenience created by the cancellation of a portion of American Airlines' flights which started on April 8. Additional inspections of our MD-80 fleet are being conducted to ensure precise and complete compliance with the FAA's directive related to wiring in the aircraft's wheel wells. Please be assured that safety of our customers is, and always will be, American's first priority. For more information about your flight, please check Gates & Times.

Customers who were inconvenienced with overnight stays may Email American Airlines Customer Relations to request information about compensation.

7:50am -- More American Flights Canceled at Sunport: New round of inspections grounds 4 departures, 2 arrivals in ABQ this morning.

American Airlines canceled some 500 flights nationwide on Tuesday, including two departures and three arrivals to and from Dallas-Fort Worth Tuesday evening at the Albuquerque International Sunport, according to The Associated Press and Sunport spokesman Daniel Jiron.

Airline officials said they didn't know how many flights would be scrubbed today to do a second round of inspections to comply with federal rules about wiring in about 300 of its MD-80 jet aircraft, the AP reported.

But three American departures to DFW and one to Chicago have been canceled at the Sunport this morning, as well as two arrivals from Dallas, Jiron told ABQjournal.com.

Jiron didn't know the exact times of the canceled flights, but you can check with the real-time flight information for arrivals and departures on the Sunport's Web site.

It was American's second bout with mass cancellations in less than two weeks for failing to meet the same wiring standards from the Federal Aviation Administration, according to the AP.

"Our understanding was a couple of weeks ago that this was dealt with," said Jiron, who said that while the Sunport could be free of cancellations this afternoon, the airline hasn't made a final determination.

American, however, "is doing a really good job of accommodating passengers and getting them on other airlines," Jiron told us.

Here's what we had about the earlier round of cancellations by American Airlines and Delta.
