"Crystal Darkness," a gripping 30-minute documentary, to be broadcast tonight.

In what its producers call a "historic and unprecedented event," a hard-hitting 30-minute documentary called "Crystal Darkness" will be simultaneously broadcast on television stations throughout the state, including several in Albuquerque, at 6:30 tonight.

In Albuquerque, the documentary will be aired on KOB-TV, KRQE-TV, My50-TV, New Mexico's CW,  and KASA Fox TV, according to a posting on the "Crystal Darkness" Web site.

A newly produced Spanish-language version of the documentary called "Obscuridad Cristal," with 25 new interviews and a focus on how the drug impacts Hispanic communities, will be aired from 10:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday on Telemundo (Comcast channel 18 or Channel 47 over-the-air).

Along with the broadcast, a training program will be introduced into all of New Mexico's schools to tell children about the growing scourge of methamphetamine abuse, the Web site said.

The documentary itself features testimonies of young people who have gone through meth addiction and are now living drug-free lives.

A version of the documentary is being shown on YouTube in several parts.

Produced by Global Studio and featuring original music from Rick Mugrage and All Day Drive, the New Mexico version of "Crystal Darkness" also is available for sale online for $16.
