Man accused in Joy Junction case under investigation for child porn in other states.

William G. Rettew, 31, who was arrested Sunday at the Joy Junction homeless shelter where he was working as a receptionist, remains jailed at the Metropolitan Detention Center, charged with criminal sexual contact of a minor, kidnapping and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

His bond, set earlier this week at $50,000, has been increased to $75,000 cash or surety, according to the MDC Web site.

Rettew is accused of forcing a 12-year-old boy to perform sexual acts while he recorded them, the Albuquerque Journal reported earlier this week.

KOB-TV is reporting this morning that Rettew was under investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation for allegedly sending pornographic images of children to Internet addresses overseas.

And Bernalillo County sheriff's investigators told Eyewitness News 4 that Rettew and his family slipped out of Iowa in the middle of the night after learning that state officials there were investigating him for alleged child abuse.

"I think they've been the type of family that they move so much, they've been one or two steps ahead of law enforcement, and we just got lucky and we ended up a step ahead of him," sheriff's Detective A.J. Rodriguez told KOB-TV.

Investigators also say agencies in several states have been looking at Rettew's activities, KOB-TV reported.

Rettew, his wife and their four children had been staying at Joy Junction for about nine months, and he had completed the homeless shelter's life recovery program and was staying in a transitional housing unit, Joy Junction chief executive officer Jeremy Reynalds told the Journal this week.

According to the KOB-TV report, the four children are in state custody and Rettew's wife is no longer allowed on Joy Junction property.
