Boys allegedly forced their way into a home and robbed brother and sister at gunpoint.

Two teenage boys from Espanola have been accused of forcing their way into a home on Sunday at gunpoint and robbing an 11-year-old boy and his 10-year-old sister, The New Mexican reported.

State District Judge Barbara Vigil on Tuesday ordered the continued detention of a 13-year-old boy and a 16-year-old boy who allegedly pointed a .22-caliber handgun at the girl's head, police and prosecutors told The New Mexican.

"I find the facts in this particular case to be shocking, given the age of the victims," Assistant District Attorney Gen Lawson told the paper.

The two boys allegedly banged on the door of the Espanola home around 1:30 p.m. Sunday, forcing their way inside and demanding that the 11-year-old give them $1, Espanola police detective Christian Lopez told The New Mexican.

The three boys began fighting after the 11-year-old refused to give the teens any more money, and the 16-year-old boy allegedly pointed the gun at the girl's head demanding more money, Lopez told the paper.

Lopez said the teens got away with just $1, while Lawson said the pair made away with a total of $12, according to The New Mexican.

The brother and sister were not injured, and the children knew at least one of the teens, Lopez said.

The teens were found later Sunday after changing their clothes, and after their arrest, the 16-year-old allegedly told police he had stolen the gun from his mother and was planning to sell the gun for drugs, Lopez told The New Mexican.

The two are charged with aggravated burglary, two counts of robbery, two counts of false imprisonment, two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, tampering with evidence, conspiracy and unlawfully possessing a hangun, the paper said.

The 16-year-old is also facing a charge of larceny.
