Former track and field coach accused of having sexual relations with teen.
James Carroll, 23, a former Mayfield High School volunteer track and field coach, was indicted by a Dona Ana County grand jury Thursday in connection with an alleged sexual relationship he had with a 15-year-old student, the Las Cruces Sun-News reported. Carroll was indicted on three counts of criminal sexual penetration of a minor and three counts of criminal sexual contact of a minor for allegedly engaging in sex with the teen in February and March, the Sun-News said. Carroll was being held at the Dona Ana County Detention Center on a $125,000 bond, the paper reported.

James Carroll, 23, of Las Cruces was being held Wednesday at the Dona Ana County Detention Center on a $125,000 bond, charged with eight counts of criminal sexual contact of a minor by a school employee or volunteer and three counts of criminal sexual penetration, the Las Cruces Sun-News reported. Carroll, who hasn't been actively coaching for more than a month, was a volunteer track and field coach at Mayfield High School, and is accused of having sex with a 15-year-old female student, the Sun-News said. The student allegedly told authorities in a safe house interview that there had been at least two different occasions when she and Carroll had been alone together inside his car, the paper reported. Carroll also allegedly told investigators that he had been alone with the student on several occasions, according to an arrest-warrant affidavit.
