Lights back on at 8:28 p.m., after 2,100 customers lost power this morning.

Power was restored to 2,108 customers in Rio Rancho at 8:28 a.m. after the lights went out around 7:30 this morning, Public Service Company of New Mexico's Jeff Buell told ABQjournal.com.

The power outage was caused by a construction crew that cut into an underground cable, Buell told us.

Breaking at 8:11am -- Power Outage in Rio Rancho: Some 2,100 customers went dark around 7:30 this morning.

A power outage affecting 2,108 customers in Rio Rancho started around 7:30 this morning, and there is no word yet on what caused it, Public Service Company of New Mexico spokesman Jeff Buell told ABQjournal.com.

The area affected is bounded by 32nd Street on the north, Palmas Altas Drive on the south, the Rio Grande on the east and 10th Avenue on the west, Buell told us.

It was just a week ago today that we reported a power outage affecting some 3,000 customers in Rio Rancho, thought to have been caused by a dig-in by construction crews last Thursday morning.

We'll pass on more information when we get it.
