James Benuska, 39, charged with murder in September death of motel clerk.

James Benuska, 39, has been bound over for trial in the death of Tucumcari motel clerk Nancy Archibeque, 60, whose body was found in the laundry room of the Microtel Inn last Sept. 19, the Quay County Sun reported.

Following a preliminary hearing last Thursday, Benuska was bound over for trial in state District Court on charges of first-degree murder and tampering with evidence, the Sun reported.

Archibeque, who was on the night shift as a front desk clerk, died of blunt force trauma caused by wounds that matched the broken end of a broom handle found in the motel laundry room, according to testimony at Thursday's hearing.

Benuska, who remains jailed at the Quay County Detention Center, is expected to go to trial some time in December, the Sun reported.
