Farmington middle school principal was among five finalists for the job.
Dave Willden, currently the principal of Heights Middle School in Farmington, was chosen among five finalists to be the new superintendent of schools in Raton, the Raton Range reported. Willden will start his new job on July 1, with a two-year contract paying $102,000 a year, the Range said. Born in Alamosa, Colo., Willden worked for an office technology firm called Infincom in Tempe, Ariz., from 1988 to 1992 before returning to college to pursue a career in education, the paper reported. He received an associate's degree in humanities from San Juan College in Farmington in 1994, a bachelor of arts in American history from Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colo., in 1995, and a master's degree from New Mexico State University in 2001, according to the Range. Willden and his wife, Gail Dixon-Willden, have two children, 10-year-old Claire and 6-year-old Spencer, who will attend Raton schools, the Range reported.
