Former Estancia High track coach to face six counts; one charge dismissed.

Grey Nevelos, former Estancia High School boys and girls track and field coach, was bound over for trial in state District Court following a preliminary hearing at which four alleged alleged victims testified on Wednesday, the Mountain View Telegraph reported this morning.

The four girls, now aged 16 to 19, appeared one by one in Torrance County Magistrate Court on Wednesday, claiming Nevelos sexually assaulted them, the Telegraph reported.

Nevelos, who was arrested in February on four counts of criminal sexual contact of a minor and three counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, has been on administrative leave from Estancia High School since last Nov. 2 and has been ordered not to come on campus or have any contact with students, according to the Telegraph.

One of the sexual contact charges originally filed against Nevelos was dismissed on Wednesday, because the alleged victim had turned 18 several weeks before the alleged assault, the Telegraph said.

Nevelos, who was the New Mexico High School Coaches Association state boys track and field coach of the year for the 2005-06 season, also was the high school athletic trainer and was head coach of the boys and girls cross country teams, the Telegraph said.

He was accused in a criminal complaint of inappropriate touching, offering alcohol to students and engaging in graphic conservations with someone under 18 years of age, the Telegraph has reported
