Alamogordo police tell Border Patrol that assault suspect may be illegal immigrant.

Armando Ramirez-Hernandez, 34, was arrested Sunday for allegedly assaulting his sister-in-law at Alamogordo's Palm Side Lounge on Saturday, and now he may be deported as an illegal immigrant, the Alamogordo Daily News reported.

After Ramirez-Hernandez was arrested following an investigation into the alleged incident, the Alamogordo Department of Public Safety discovered that he may be in the United States illegally and notified the Border Patrol, the Daily News said.

Ramirez-Hernandez is being held without bond at the Otero County Detention Center, charged with assault on a household member, the paper reported.
