The high wind watch posted last night for the Albuquerque area is no longer in effect, but the wind advisory put up in its place from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today, calling for sustained winds of 25 to 35 mph, with occasional gusts to 50 mph (even, according to broadcast weathermen, up to 60 and 65 mph).

There's a high wind warning from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. just off to our east, covering an area from Taos and the northeast all the way down central New Mexico to Ruidoso.

We're looking at a high temperature anywhere from the high 60s to around 71, but watch for blowing dust and low visibilities as the winds kick up.

While the forecasters earlier this week thought things would calm down a bit by Friday, the National Weather Service is now saying we could see 10 to 15-mph winds increasing to 20-25 mph by tomorrow afternoon, with gusts to 30 mph.

Expect calmer weather and higher temperatures by Saturday, going up to the 80s on Sunday and the start of next week.

And once again today, that red flag warning, meaning combustible fire weather conditions, is in effect throughout the entire state.
