Algodones landlord backs out of rental deal with 34-year-old Clifford Gutierrez.

Clifford Gutierrez, the 34-year-old Mora man who was ordered to relocate to Sandoval or Bernalillo county after being convicted of sex offenses, was supposed to move into a home in Algodones Wednesday, but the landlord backed out of the deal, KOB-TV is reporting.

A court order allowed Gutierrez to stay out of jail for groping women, girls and a boy if he would leave Mora County, according to KOB.

Eyewitness News 4 reported yesterday that Gutierrez was headed for Rio Rancho, but it turns out he was going to Algodones instead.

The New Mexico Department of Corrections told KOB-TV that Gutierrez will remain for the time being at a Las Vegas, N.M., motel until new living arrangements can be worked out.

8:05am 5/7/07 -- It's Moving Day for Mora Molester: Corrections Department says convicted groper is moving to Rio Rancho today.

Clifford Gutierrez, 34, who was ordered to leave his home town of Mora after pleading guilty last month to a variety of charges, including criminal sexual contact of a minor, will be moving to Rio Rancho today, the New Mexico Department of Corrections told KOB-TV.

Gutierrez, who was sentenced to five to 20 years of probation by state District Judge Eugenio Mathis, was ordered to change his residence to either Bernalillo County or Sandoval County -- an order that miffed Albuquerque Mayor Martin Chavez and Rio Rancho Mayor Tom Swisstack, according to an earlier Albuquerque Journal report.

Gutierrez has admitted to groping women, girls and a boy, KOB-TV reported.

The Corrections Department told KOB-TV that Gutierrez's move is in compliance with Mathis' order, and that he will have 10 days to register as a sex offender in Sandoval County.

"I'm a little disappointed, to be honest with you," Rio Rancho's Mayor Swisstack told Eyewitness News 4. "I thought the partnership between Albuquerque and myself would have discouraged the possibility of his coming in this direction."
