We'll have at least one more warm, dry, windy day before it could get wet.
We're looking at a high of 84, well above the average high of 78 for this date, but the big story today will be winds out of the southwest starting out at 5 to 10 mph, increasing to 25 to 35 mph with possible gusts to 45 mph, according to the National Weather Service. Expect a somewhat cooler Tuesday, with a high temperature forecast of 69 under mostly cloudy skies and diminished winds, but the possibility of thunderstorms Tuesday night and Wednesday, with a chance of showers through the rest of the work week. The reason for the changes is a strong cold front that's expected to bring showers and thunderstorms to the Four Corners and western mountains beginning Tuesday and pushing south and east through Tuesday night, according to this morning's area forecast discussion. Meanwhile, just about all of New Mexico is under a red flag warning from 10 this morning until 9 tonight, and likewise a wind advisory will be in effect for much of the state from 1 this afternoon until 9 tonight, with southwest winds of 35 mph gusting to 50 mph beginning this afternoon.
