Police believe pickup was ditched by "person of interest" in Pecos, Texas, double killing.

A truck found abandoned near Socorro Sunday morning has been linked to a double homicide in Pecos, Texas, and police are looking for a 50-year-old Pecos man named Randall Lee Stephens as a "person of interest" in the slayings, KOB-TV is reporting.

The El Paso Times reported this weekend that Richard Cherry, 51, and Alicia Cherry, 48, were found dead last Tuesday in DJ's Roundup, a bar they owned in Pecos for the past 15 years.

The Cherrys were found Tuesday afternoon by Alicia Cherry's brother and sister, who checked in on the bar after their phone calls had gone unanswered, the Times reported.

Police in Pecos think the couple had been stabbed to death the night before, and named Stephens as a person of interest in the case, the paper said.

Pecos police also said last week that Richard Cherry's gray 1995 Ford F-350 pickup was missing, the Times reported.

The pickup truck had bumper guards, a toolbox and a 50-gallon diesel tank in the bed and had Texas license plates 8DF-V60, according to the Times report.

Eyewitness News 4 reported today that the abandoned truck was located by Border Patrol agents and was found to be Richard Cherry's missing pickup.

Police believe Stephens drove the truck into New Mexico and ditched it, KOB-TV reported.

Anyone with information about Stephens or the truck is asked to call Pecos police at (432) 445-4911.
