Police arrest two teens for spray-painting graffiti, obscenities on church last week.

A number of swastikas and various racial and religious obscenities were painted on the south side of Bethel Baptist Church in Alamogordo some time between Thursday night and Friday morning, according to the Alamogordo Daily News.

Investigators with the Alamogordo Department of Public Safety on an unrelated call Sunday noticed a similarity between grafitti on a backyard skateboard ramp resembled graffiti found at the church and at several locations around town, the Daily News reported.

Officers determined, through investigation, interviews and examining evidence, that two boys -- age 14 and 17 -- were responsible for defacing the church and a local culvert, the Daily News said.

The boys, whose names were not released, were referred to the Juvenile Probation and Parole Office on charges of criminal damage to property, the paper said.

The teens also are suspected of causing similar damage to several other locations around Alamogordo, and further charges may be filed, the Daily News reported.

In another, yet-unsolved case, a woman reported that someone spray-painted a smiley face and the letters WS in black, silver, blue and red paint on the alley side of her back yard wall, sometime between 7:30 p.m. Thursday and 9:40 a.m. Friday, police told the Daily News.

Police also reported that someone damaged the electrical/phone junction box at the Spot Free Car Wash, smashing the box and cutting all the inside lines, some time between 7:30 p.m. Saturday and 7 a.m. Sunday, the Daily News said.
