A foul odor emanating from behind the Sais One Food Market at Louisiana and Trumbull SE brought police to the scene around 8 p.m. Wednesday, and officers discovered a badly decomposed body beneath a mattress, Albuquerque Police Department spokeswoman Officer Nadine Hamby told ABQjournal.com.

The body has not been identified.

In fact, Hamby told us, "we still don't know whether it was a man or a woman."

The state Office of the Medical Investigator is conducting an autopsy to determine the cause of death, and APD is treating the death as suspicious, Hamby said.
