Winds could gust up to 50 mph through much of N.M.

A wind advisory is in effect for most of the state from noon to 8 p.m. today, with strong southwest winds of 25 to 35 mph, gusting up to 50 mph, according to the National Weather Service.

Drivers are urged to use caution, as sudden gusts could cause difficulty in controlling their vehicles. And strong winds are expected to affect travel on New Mexico's interstates, the weather service warns.

Temperatures in the Albuquerque metro area are expected to be anywhere from the mid-60s to the low 70s, and there's a chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms.
