Albuquerque Public Schools in the East Mountains will discuss what they would do in the event of a wildfire at 7 p.m. tonight in the Roosevelt Middle School gymnasium. Roosevelt Middle, San Antonio Elementary, and A. Montoya Elementary, have met with Bernalillo County Fire officials, state fire officials, and U.S. Forest Service representative and have formed a plan to keep students safe if a fire were to break out in the East Mountains, according to an APS press release.

"We are working as a community, not just APS schools, but also with the private and charter schools in the area to make sure if a fire were to break out that all of the students would be taken to a safe location,” said Deborah Henwood, principal at A. Montoya.

Parents will have the opportunity to ask any questions they may have about the fire plan after it is presented. “Conditions in the East Mountains are severely dry and this is a perfect time for parents to get answers to questions that they have,” added Henwood.

All parents of East Mountain students are invited to attend this meeting.
