Albuquerque is the second most affordable travel destination in the United States, according to AAA, the travel and insurance company.

"I think this means there are going to be more families coming to Albuquerque this summer," Mayor Martin Chavez said Wednesday in a news conference.

Daily food and lodging cost about $179 in Albuquerque, according to AAA. Tulsa, Okla., topped the list, beating the Duke City by less than a dollar.

AAA praised Albuquerque's cultural influences, cuisine, outdoor-recreation opportunities and museums.
