County will close; most other govt. offices stay open.
It's a mixed bag of closings in the Albuquerque metropolitan area tomorrow for Good Friday. Bernalillo County offices and county community centers will be shut down, and there will be no school for Albuquerque and Rio Rancho public schools. City, state and federal offices will remain open, as will city community centers, University of New Mexico and Albuquerque TVI (soon to become, as of June 2, Central New Mexico Community College). There will be regular garbage pickup, bus service, mail delivery, and the following will remain open: Albuquerque city libraries, the Rio Grande Nature Center, Rio Grande Zoo, Albuquerque Aquarium, Rio Grande Botanic Garden, Indian Pueblo Cultural Center, Museum of Natural History, Albuquerque Museum, Explora Museum, the National Atomic Museum (which will be closed Easter Sunday), Lodestar Astronomy Center and the National Hispanic Cultural Center. Federal courts will be on regular schedule, but state District Court and Bernalillo County Metropolitan Court will close at noon. The office of Sen. Pete Domenici, R-N.M., will be closed all day, but that of Sen. Jeff Bingaman, D-N.M., will be open. The office of Rep. Heather Wilson, R-N.M., will be open, and New Mexico Democratic Rep. Tom Udall's office will close at noon. Check tomorrow's Albuquerque Journal for a complete, updated list of closings.
