Rio Rancho police have released the name of the 35-year-old man who was found dead Saturday in the home he shared with the roommate charged with killing him. Douglas Robbins was stabbed numerous times after an argument with 46-year-old Francisco Castillo, which began late Friday at their home in the 6900 block of Concord Hills, according to a statement of probable cause. Robbins died from his injuries. Castillo was arrested Saturday and charged with an open count of murder. He was on a no-bond hold Monday at the Sandoval County Detention Center. According to the statement of probable cause, Castillo’s brother told police that Castillo called him about 7:45 a.m. Saturday. He said Castillo asked to meet him at a restaurant in Bernalillo. When the brother and a sister showed up, the brother saw blood on Castillo’s hands, the statement says. The three left the restaurant and went to Castillo’s house, where Castillo said he and Robbins had been arguing before he stabbed Robbins in the stomach “a couple of times, but the knives were breaking,” the statement says. When police searched the home, they found Robbins’ body with stab wounds and several broken knives nearby. Other broken blades were in the garage, along with a note that said “I hate you.”
