Mario Mauricio, 24, was captured without incident at the Marriott Courtyard Hotel shortly after 2 p.m. today, police said.

Mauricio is accused of a domestic violence incident at the Marriott Courtyard Hotel involving his girlfriend, according to Albuquerque police spokesman John Walsh. He said Mauricio is wanted on several felony warrants and will face new charges today for domestic violence. Walsh said Mauricio was found hiding on the balcony of room 315. He tried to elude police by jumping from the third floor, to the second floor and finally down to the first floor into the courtyard.

"He ran into the courtyard into the arms of the waiting swat team members," Walsh said. "There were no injuries and he was arrested."

Police are searching all 150 rooms of the hotel. They believe he has a gun.

Police responded to a call from Mauricio's girlfriend, and when they arrived at the room, Walsh said the man ran out and jumped from the fourth floor down to the third floor. The girlfriend told police Mauricio has a handgun.

Walsh said Mauricio has several warrants for his arrest for charges that include kidnapping, child abuse and domestic violence. Walsh said police intend to search every room but are not sure if Mauricio is still on the premises.

A man wanted on an arrest warrant has barricaded himself inside a hotel room at the Marriott Courtyard Hotel in Journal Center,    according to Walsh.

Dozens of squad cars had the street outside the hotel blocked off shortly before noon Friday.

Walsh said police were trying to get the man to come out of the room. He said details about the man or his warrant are not yet available.
