Jason Skaggs admits his involvement in the June 2008 killing of a newlywed nurse

Jason Skaggs, who had been accused in the June 2008 killing of Scott Pierce, pleaded guilty this morning to four felonies including second-degree murder. Under the terms of the plea agreement, Skaggs faces a maximum sentence of 30 1/2 years when he is sentenced on Sept. 18.

Pierce was shot to death June 28, 2008, in his home on Hannett NE in front of his wife, six days after the couple got married. Police arrested Skaggs and Clifton Bloomfield days later. Police said the two men intended to kill another man who had previously lived in Pierce’s house.

In October, Bloomfield plead guilty to killing Pierce and four other people since 2005. He was sentenced to 195 years in prison.

Read tomorrow's Journal for about Skagg's plea agreement.
