Four have been taken into custody including the teacher's daughter-in-law
Police are announcing at this hour they have found the body of missing Chelwood Elementary teacher Ellen Roth. They also say they have taken four into custody in connection with her death.
Police made a break in the case about 4 a.m. They also got information that Roth was buried in the Jemez mountains. Police are still excavating her body.
According to court records, Chrisopher Donovan, James Johnson, Bella Gonzales an Roth's daughter-in-law, Cathleen have been charged in connection with her death.
According to police, Ellen Roth’s brother called police May 6 and reported that his sister hadn’t been seen or heard from in three days and hadn’t been to work.
He told police it was out of character for his sister not to call her siblings or her best friend and to leave her dogs unattended.
After taking a statement from the brother, police forced their way into Roth’s home, located in a gated apartment complex in the 6500 block of San Antonio NE. Nothing appeared out of ordinary in her apartment, Albuquerque police spokesman John Walsh said, but her keys, cell phone and van were gone.
Four days later, police found Roth’s Dodge Caravan parked in an apartment complex in the 400 block of Tennessee NE. They keys were in the ignition and the license plate had been changed.
There was no other evidence of foul play, but there was still no sign of Roth.
The day before she disappeared, she had called police and reported that her 19-year-old son had been stealing from her, according to court records. He wasn’t charged with theft, but police arrested him for violating the terms of his probation. He has been in jail since then.
The son was on probation stemming from a July 2008 incident in which he threatened to kill Roth.
She has been a teacher at Chelwood Elementary School for 25 years, according to Albuquerque Public School officials. She was a reading specialist.
