Man allegedly used Internet to try to have sex with girl
An Albuquerque man, who allegedly tried to arrange a sexual encounter with who he thought was a 12-year-old girl, was arrested Thursday by State Police officers, according to a criminal complaint. Chad Richardson, 30, is charged with child solicitation by electronic communication device. According to a search warrant affidavit, Richardson posted an ad to Craigslist on Oct. 24 requesting little girls who want to have sex. The ad used explicit language and caught the attention of an undercover State Police agent. The agent responded to the add pretending to be a 12-year-old girl. Richardson replied by saying "I like girls your age," according to the affidavit. The agent had several conversations with Richardson through an Internet chat service. Richardson described what he wanted to do the girl sexually and also sent explicit images of himself to the agent that he thought was a girl, according to the affidavit. Richardson asked if he could meet the girl for a sexual encounter on Thursday at a dog park in West Albuquerque. When Richardson arrived at the dog park, State Police officers were waiting and detained him. He was later arrested and booked into the Metropolitan Detention Center. Richardson bonded out and is no longer at the detention center. Officers also obtained a search warrant for Richardson's home and took a computer, a hard drive and other items as part of the investigation.
