Ryan Vigil Had Been On Suicide Watch; Was Then Taken Off

Bernalillo County officials have said Vigil was pronounced dead at 2:10 p.m

Ryan Vigil, one of two accused in the brutal slaying of 20-year-old Brittni Carlini last week, tried to kill himself in the Metropolitan Detention Center early this morning, officials said.

Vigil, 19, had been on suicide watch, which is standard for an inmate charged with similar crimes, officials said. He was evaluated by a mental health professional, who determined he could be taken off suicide watch.

Some time early this morning, he tried to hang himself with a bed sheet, officials said.
