Police want to know the true identity of a man suspected in numerous ID thefts
Albuquerque police are asking for the community's help in identifying a man suspected of at least $30,000 in identity theft.
The suspect uses fake New Mexico driver's licenses to cash fraudulent checks at various businesses throughout the Albuquerque area, according to an e-mail from Albuquerque Police Spokeswoman Nadine Hamby. He has used the identities of at least five different people.
He has cashed the checks at various businesses including Kay Jewelers, Sporting eyes, Foot Locker, Macy's, Family Dollar, R.E.I. Sporting Goods, JB Trailer, Big D's Flooring, Sears, JC Penney and Poor Boys Auto Repair.
The bank account numbers the suspect uses are from personal accounts, business accounts and a government account from the Sandoval County Detention Center, according to the e-mail.
The suspect has cashed about $30,000 in fraudulent checks.
He is described as being about 40 years old, 5 feet 10 inches tall, and about 200 pounds. He is either bald or wears a short crew haircut, according to the e-mail.
He was seen driving a white Chevy pick-up.
