If you watch a lot of crime coverage on the television news, you have definitely seen Bernalillo County Sheriff's Deputy Gregg Marcantel (pictured top right) a few times. As a lieutenant, he was basically the county's top homicide cop and spoke to the media whenever there was a homicide. You would know it if you heard him speak. He uses large words and sounds like a professor.

If you are a Marcantel fan, you are going to have to get used to not seeing him on television. Marcantel was recently promoted to captain and transferred out of the violent crimes unit and to the academy. So, it's unlikely he wil make  television appearances anytime soon.

Marcantel was one of 10 deputies recently promoted. The promotions caused a huge shakeup among the ranks. Notably, Matt Thomas (pictured bottom right), who was commanding the Region 1 Narcotics Task Force, was transferred as well when he was promoted to captain.

Please note that we did crop out Bernalillo County Sheriff Darren White from the promotion photos which were provided by the sheriff's office.

Other deputies promoted include:

Sergeants:

Broderick Sharp
Kenneth Wardlaw
Larry Tafoya
Andrea Taylor
Etan LeCompte
Augustine Lucero

Lieutenants :
Greg Rees
Edward Mims
