Still looking for something to do this weekend????
Probably the largest 4th of July celebration will be in Albuquerque on Saturday. It's called "Freedom 4th" and it's all happening at Balloon Fiesta Park.Gates will open at 3 p.m. and admission is $2 for adults and free for kids under 12. Live music will be provided by South by Southwest, Savor and the Blues Brothers Review. Park and ride will be available starting at 4 p.m. The westside pickup location is St. Pius High School. On the east side, Coronado Center is your location. More info is available here. In Rio Rancho, there will be a Bike Decorating Contest with registration beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Albertson's parking lot on Southern Blvd. Kids from 2-12 are eligible and prizes will be awarded. The parade begins at 10 a.m. at Country Club and Southern; Fireworks Extravaganza (gates open at 4 p.m.) at Loma Colorado ParkĀ (parking $5 per car). Enjoy live music from The Brahma Band, The Hit Squad, and The StingRays, plus kids' activities. The days' activities are listed here. In Los Lunas, there will be a parade, beginning at 9 a.m. at the Valencia "Y" across from Smiths. The parade will travel west along Highway 6 to City Hal. Here are details and entry forms. Fireworks will be at Daniel Fernandez Park with gates opening at 4 p.m. Live music will be provided by Eddie Benavidez e Los Jesters, Vanessa Aragon,Roberto Griego y Su Banda. Plus a men's softball home run derby and all-star game, beginning at 5 For you East Mountain dwellers, there will be theĀ Star Spangled Cowboy 4th of July Celebration; all day, beginning at 8 a.m.. In Santa Fe, the day begins early with a pancake breakfast, entertainment and a vintage car show beginning at 7 a.m. Pancakes on the Plaza is a July 4th tradition that brings the community to the table and raises money to support progressive initiatives for lasting change.Santa Fe fireworks will be at Santa Fe High School ($5 car parking).
